So Behind

OK...so having a one year old, working full time, and still trying to find time to see friends & family is kind of hard. I don't know if anyone out there knows that! Anyway, so much has changed since October. First of all, Jake is walking, well I guess I should say running everywhere. He wants nothing to do with a stroller, cart, or anything that resembles a restraint. Mr. Independence is what I call him, Jason tells him "you're just like your mother!" :) Jakob has 5 teeth and counting. The 6th & possibly 7th teeth are coming in. He looks so funny with two bottom teeth, one top tooth, & two upper molars. But none of this stops him from eating whatever he wants. He is really starting to talk now too. When you ask him what a dinosaur or cow says, he will "roar" & "moo" appropriately. Sometimes, he will "quack" for a duck and the rest of the animals 'roar' if they should or not. His favorite words are 'more & done' which he uses all of the time, unless it's more fun to throw the food on the floor and then he just does that!

We are finishing up plans for our first official family vacation. We weren't really planning on going anywhere, but we have a week to use at a resort or we will lose it and we have the vacation time so we thought why not!? We are going to Orlando with Uncle Neil, Aunt Michelle, Sistene, & of course Izaiah. Jason can get really cheap 4 day passes to Disney with the military so we have most of the week planned for us! The resort will have 4 pools so I know Jake will be entertained. He loves the water, but hasn't been in a "big pool" yet. We are all getting excited, but there is so much to do in the two months before we leave!

Speaking of Jake in the pool...I'm adding a picture of Jakob in his little pool that Aunt Michelle got for him. He didn't know what to think of the entire situation at first. He kept looking at us like he was thinking, "I'm outside, in clothes, and in the water. Somethings not right here!" By the third time of being in the pool though, he ran to it and jumped in before Jason could catch him, clothes, sandels, regular diaper and all! He was really wet when Mommy got home!!

Well that's enough of an update for now. I really will try to get better about updating more often. Especially as Jake is doing so many new things all of the time.

Drool, Drool, Drool

Well the old saying "When it rains it poors" has never been more true in our household! Jason & I have both been crazy at work and Jake has been doing everything. A few weeks ago, Jakob had a slight sinus infection but quickly recovered and was back to normal within a few days. Two weeks ago, he went for his 6 month shots and had an ear infection. In one short month he had two rounds of antibiotics! During all of the illnesses the only constant has been that Jakob is drooling like crazy. We actually thought that he was just teething when he ended up with the ear infection, but still didn't have any teeth. That was until this past Sunday. We were at the Covered Bridge Festival with Aunt Tammy, Tillie, & Mamaw when all of the sudden Jake opened his mouth and I saw two little buds!!!

Jump forward three days, add in a fever at 3:00 in the morning and we are in full fledged teething mode!! It's had to believe so much drool comes out of one small package! On top of teething, Jake is just starting to crawl. He hasn't actually moved forward yet, but will move his knees back and forth and can move one arm, but only one arm! It's so funny to see. He keeps growing and loves to sit up and play. He also LOVES his jumper-roo! He will just jump and jump and laugh and smile for the longest time.

Well he is getting fussy, so it's time to go. I'll try to update more later and not take so long next time!

A Little Behind!

Our happy family!

Hello All! So I am a little behind on the updates, but boy have we been busy. First of all, Jakob went for his official 4 month appointment last Friday and is up to 14 lbs 11 1/2 ounces and is 26 1/2 inches long (85 percentile!). He did great with his shots and we are slowly introducing more foods into his diet. He LOVES oatmeal and next week we are going to start rice & oatmeal with fruits in them. I'm sure he's as excited as mommy & daddy are. He has been hit or miss with his rolling over. We know he can do it, we just think that he doesn't want to. He still loves to stand and has started to try to sit up whenever he is in highchair, stroller, or sitting on our laps. For some reason, he just won't listen to me and SLOW DOWN!!!! :(

We also have added on to the Colclasure family. Yes, it's true we have a new kitten. He (at least we think he) has been with us since last Saturday, but we are really struggling coming up with a good name. As most of you know, both of the cats that we have had have had German names of friends of ours, so we want to stick to the German name theme, but can't think of a good one that fits yet. Any ideas are appreciated.

Jake & Daddy trying to pet a horse at the Fair!

Back to Jakob...we went to Evansville the end of July for a wedding and survived our first hotel trip as a family. Jake did great on the way down (almost 4 hours) but cried a lot on the way back. He was very cute in his little button down shirt and jeans and only needed to leave the church one time during the ceremony, which isn't bad for a Catholic wedding :) Last weekend we went to the State Fair since it was military day and we all got in for free. Leah & Brenden went with us and Jason & I adopted Izaiah & Sistene for the day so that they could go with us too. We all had a lot of fun, but it was really hot. Jake did great and only really fussed a couple of times in over 5 hours!!

Jake liked playing with Daddy's tie!!

We are looking forward to a visit to Fort Wayne next weekend to see Jakob's birthfamily, but we aren't so sure how he will do on the drive. Hopefully he'll do better than he did on the way home from Evansville, but we'll just have to wait and see. All right, enjoy the pictures and I really will try to be better with the updates!

Busy Weekend!

Well, we have had quite the exciting weekend around here. On Friday, we started with a visit to the doctor to see about Jake's frequent spitting up. We found out he's up to 14 lbs which is nearly the 48th percentile! He's getting heavier:) We are trying some new formula for the spit up and so far things are a little better. After our appointment, we went to the zoo with Aunt Tammy, Tillie, Aunt Michelle, Izaiah, Sistene, and Jake's birth-family! He was really excited to see them again and just kept smiling and trying to talk to them. He also really loved seeing Tillie, Izaiah, & Sistene. Jake just loves being where the action is.
Jakob was able to have rice cereal for the first time on Saturday and was quite a mess! He didn't know what to think at first, but was really catching on towards the end! Saturday evening Granny & Rick came up for a visit so that Jason & I could go see a movie. Our anniversary was last weekend, but since it was a military weekend we didn't really do anything fun. We of course waited until the 9:20 movie so that we wouldn't miss too much of Jake's day since he usually falls asleep between 9:30 and 10:00.

Sunday has just been a lazy day, but Jake still didn't want to go to sleep...not with visitors:) After everyone left, we went to run some errands and when we came home he was able to try more cereal, but this time in his high chair. He did even better today than yesterday and finished all of the cereal I made for him!! Tomorrow night Daddy is on his own with the cereal, we'll see how that goes and what kind of mess is left for Mommy when I get home!! Enjoy the pictures and I'll update again soon.

4th of July

Jakob survived his first 4th of July and seemed to really like it. We had a really busy weekend starting on Thursday when we had Adoption Day when everything for the adoption was finalized. Everything went smoothly and Jakob made sure his voice was heard once we got there! He was eating when we went into the court room, but was too busy checking everything out to continue so we stopped feeding him and just let him look around. He had only had a couple of ounces, so I wasn't trying to burp him but as soon as the court recorder pressed the record button he let out a big burp!! Everyone started laughing and the judge said that Jake just wanted everyone to know that he was there too! It was very cute!

After that we went down to Brazil on Friday to get ready for Tillie's birthday party & the 4th! Unfortunately it rained so much on Saturday that fireworks were postponed until Sunday and so was Tillie's party. We were able to spend lots of time with Jason's family and Jake really liked talking to Aunt Leah the most! By the time Sunday rolled around everyone was sleepy, Jake took a 2 1/2 hour nap to prepare himself for the festivities, but missed out on Tillie enjoying her 1st cupcake. She was very cute, almost falling asleep but still getting her hands (and hair and face) messy. Finally it was time for fireworks, and Jake loved them. I kept my hands over his ears so that they weren't too loud but he kept pulling away so that he could look at them. He did finally fall asleep while the fireworks were going off, but while he was awake had a really good time. We are still catching up from the big weekend and are preparing to do it all over again this weekend as Jason has drill and we are heading back to Brazil, but hopefully things won't be as crazy and we can relax a little more!! ;)

Jakob is 3 months old!!

Well, Jake is now officially three months old! It's hard to believe that he is that old already. It seems like ever week he is doing something new. His new thing this week is to stick his tongue on his top lip like he is thinking of something. It is sooooo cute. :) In our unofficial measuring he is up to 24" and is over 12 pounds. Most of his 0-3 month old clothes are getting snug but most of the 3-6 month old clothes are still too big. Oh well, he'll grow out of those soon enough too! Jake is really excited about the 4th of July and Tillie's birthday party next weekend. Jason keeps telling him that he needs to take notes for his 1st birthday, in 8 months. I'm sure he'll be asleep by the time fireworks start but maybe we'll be able to get a least one picture of him with some fireworks in the background.

Enjoy the 3 month pictures and have a great Independence Day!!!

Quick Update

O.K. I'm a little behind...Jake's 2 month appointment went well. He cried for about 2 minutes after the shots and then calmed down and was fine again. He really is a good baby. Two weeks ago he was up to 23 inches and 11 lbs. 7 1/2 oz!! There are a few 3-6 month outfits that he is even fitting into, but just a few. He has been doing great at the babysitter's house and seems to really enjoy his time there. Whenever we tell him he is going to Ms. Martha's house he gets a big smile on his face :)

This past weekend we had our oldest nephew Izaiah come up and stay with us. We all went Downtown to the Sailor & Soldier's Monument & World War Museum. Izaiah had a really good time and Jake slept through most of it. I'll attach some pictures of the boys in front of the World War Museum. It really was a good time and best of all it was free! I really will try to update more often, going back to work hasn't left me with as much time as I had hoped!!
